The first article i read dealt with many problems with protecting civilians on the eastern border of the Congo. Ihe government has been unable to protect the people of the Congo. Thus the U.N has been forced to intervene.

The second article was about a congo rebel leader who was arrested and is being charged for the rape of around 300 people. It further goes on to explain how hard it is right now for the Congolese government to protect its own people. This also leads to exploitation and manipualtion taking place throughout the country.

I believe that colonialism is a very minor factor in the current situation. The problem is that the they are unable to protect their own people. This is not because of issues from colonialism, but because of problems in organization and technology
